This April Fool's day, Madarts is happy to present an art exhibit of collages by eleven budding 4th & 5th grade artists from PS 39 in Brooklyn. Collage was one of many choices the kids could make from the PS 39 enrichment program, which ranged from clay animation to chorus, soccer, or hip hop dance, among others.
The two ten-week enrichment clusters are taught by teachers, parents and other outside artists. Parent/artist Rebecca Aidlin, (who is also a studio artist at Madarts Studios,) and teacher Eve Ottavino who ran the collage group say, "These weekly classes give the children a chance to choose an activity of personal interest that is outside the regular curriculum. It gives them the opportunity to explore areas they might eventually want to pursue more seriously."
