Interim Principal Anita DePaz Chosen

Good news for the 39 community.

Anita De Paz, a much beloved former teacher and staff developer who's mother was a para in the school (one of the trees planted outside the library across the street was planted in her mother's honor) and who loves PS 39 as much or more than anyone on the planet, has been selected to lead the school upon Mr. Mateo's transition period and retirement.

Anita DePaz has been Assistant Prinicipal over at P.S. 38 on Pacific Street for 3 years. Many of the 39 staff were in tears (of joy) at the announcement that Anita was returning.

She is really a wonderful choice for the job and I look forward to getting to know her better. It looks like we are in good hands and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the DOE superintendants not only understood what PS 39 needs but made sure it was all in place before the end of the school year.

Roseanne Palamara stressed when she made the announcement to the Senior Leadership Team, SLT that the emails she received really clinched her choice of Anita because it is clear that Anita fit the qualifications that the majority of parents asked for.

It's really nice to know that our voices really counted.
