All students have a right to attend public school, regardless of immigration status. To inform families of this right and reassure them that their children are safe in our classrooms, the Department of Education and the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs have prepared a letter and an FAQ (click links to view). Translated copies are available HERE. Copies of this letter and FAQ were sent via email and on paper to any family that does not receive email from PS 39.
PS 39 will celebrate Respect for All Week during the week of February 13- 17. This week the students will have special activities relating to kindness, empathy, friendship and respecting differences. A calendar of events and information is available on our Respect for All Page. We encourage all families to participate and to talk about this week with their children at home. There will be a special Respect for All Sing Along for grades K-2 on Thursday, February 16 and for grades 3-5 on Friday, February 17. Both events will be held at Camp Friendship from 8:45- 9:15 and parents are invited to attend.
PS 39 will be having a Winter Dance on February 10 from 6:30- 8:30 pm at Camp Friendship. Music, baked goods and fun for the family! Contact Christiania Cobean ([email protected] ) if you would like to help decorate or with the bake sale.

The special education process can be confusing and overwhelming. Join other PS 39 parents in a group designed to help! Families of students with IEP's, 504 plans, or families going through the referral process are invited to learn from other parents and share their own knowledge and experiences. Our first meeting will be a planning meeting to learn more about resources and supports would be helpful to parents at the school. Questions or want more information? Contact our Parent Coordinator, Karen Herskowitz ([email protected]) Children born in 2013 are eligible for Pre-K in NYC for the 2017-18 school year. PS 39 will no longer have a pre-K program starting next year. All families are encouraged to explore other programs using the Brooklyn Pre-K Directory. There are still TICKETS available for the Nets vs. Spurs game on 1/23. Kids will have the opportunity to be on the court at Barclays to give Nets players high-fives during pre-game @ 6:30pm, game time is 7:30pm. Have some fun and support PS 39 in the process!

Join us each week at Camp Friendship for fun and games with Mr. Thomas and our Wellness Council. Remember this is a FAMILY event. Everyone should come ready to move and dressed to participate.
