If you are interested in improving your kids' lives and education, and have great ideas to improve our NYC schools. participate in the Education Council elections! It's your chance to make a real impact on how your school district works for your school district works for your children and all of your neighbor's children. CECs allow for parent involvement on the district level and play an essential role in shaping education policies for New York City public schools. They have a total of 12 members: 9 parents of students K-8 (two seats are reserved for a parent of an ELL and of an IEP student), 2 members appointed by the Borough President, and 1 non-voting high school student.
