Get on board: P.S. 39's annual fund drive, the Mighty Fine Drive, has begun! Please give what you can to support your own kids, and all our kids, in their growth and development.
The goal is 100% participation. Every family counts and every dollar counts! We need to raise over $200,000 this school year to cover the PTA budget. That's a big number for a small school. It will take every family’s help to reach it. And, a lot of bake sales, community events and volunteer hours… Please give what you can, recognizing that the PTA will spend approximately $500.00 per child this year. By making a donation to P.S. 39’s Parent Association, you give our community more teachers with top-notch training, recess and chess coaches, dance and music enrichments. Can we count you in? You can send a check made out to "P.S. 39 Parent Association" in your child’s folder. Or visit the DONATE section on ps39.org to use a credit card or PayPal . Keep in mind that we are a 501 (c) (3) tax deductible charity. The holidays will soon be here. Why not start early by supporting our own kids? Thank you in advance for your support. Please contact us if you have any questions! Andrea Nye ([email protected]) and Robbyn Kistler ([email protected]) Mighty Fine Drive Co-Chairs P.S. What is an Assessment Portfolio? A portfolio is a collection of your child's assessment and written work in all subject areas. It will include:
The Portfolio will provide families with the context connected to the assessments used for report card grades. These portfolios will provide you a comprehensive understanding of how your child is progressing in each content area and will be shared with families several times during the year. What can I do to make my child's portfolio as useful as possible? In order for portfolios to be the informative tools that we intend them to be we feel that it's essential for parents to be fully educated on their contents and how to interpret it. Parents are encouraged to the presentation (click on the image to the left) from our workshop as a guide to understanding their child's portfolio. |
