Kindergarten offer letters will be sent to families at the beginning of April. If you receive an offer for a spot in our PS 39 Kindergarten program, to accept your kindergarten offer you must make an appointment to pre-register by May 6.
Pre-Registration Appointments can be made online HERE. The appointment will take approximately 15 minutes. Please do not schedule an appointment until you have received notification about your placement from the Department of Education When pre-registering, you must bring your child with you, as well as:
If you are not offered placement at the school you ranked highest on your application, you will automatically be placed on the waitlist for all schools you ranked higher than the school where your child got an offer. For example, if you received a placement offer for the school you listed third on your application, you will automatically be included on the waitlist for your first and second choice schools, but not your fourth choice school. Schools will contact waitlisted families directly if they are able to offer them a seat; no additional action is required of families to remain on a school’s waitlist. Late Applicants Families who applied to kindergarten between February 19 and March 27 will receive a placement offer later in the spring. If you have yet to apply to Kindergarten for your child born in 2010 and you live in NYC, you can still enroll your child in Kindergarten for September. Beginning in late April, please contact your zoned school and other schools of interest directly to place your child on the waitlist or on register, depending on seat availability and admissions priority group. To determine your zoned school, please click here. Our annual Spring Talent Show is scheduled for May 29 (7-9 pm) at New Voices (MS 443) Middle School. Students in grades 2-5 will be invited to audition during 7th period on April 17, 20 or 21. Any student interested in auditioning must return a permission slip no later than April 15th! Permission slips will be sent home with students and are also available HERE. All rehearsals will take place during the school day during April and May.

Our Parent Association would like to share this video with our community made by Brooklyn teachers in our area about the proposed educational policy changes that are a part of Governor Cuomo's budget proposal set for a vote by our NY State legislators on April 1, 2015. We encourage parents to educate themselves on these policy changes- the potential consequences are too great to ignore. View the video HERE
It's time for the annual NYC Department of Education School Survey. Every family will receive their survey at Parent Teacher Conferences. Parents may choose to complete the paper survey or complete the survey online HERE. Please note: you will need the code found on the paper survey in order to complete the online survey! The survey helps school leaders understand what key members of the school community say about the learning environment at each school. The information captured by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn.
The 2014-2015 version of the NYC School Survey is aligned to the DOE’s Framework for Great Schools. The survey will collect vital information about a school’s capacity to improve student achievement by measuring the extent to which each school incorporates the six essential elements— rigorous instruction, supportive environment, collaborative teachers, effective school leadership, strong family and community ties, and trust—that drive school improvement and develop students to compete in the 21st century. The survey will be one of multiple measures used to help the DOE assess the six essential elements. For a quick reference about the survey- see our FAQ sheet here Our March PTA meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 17 at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Representatives from the School Construction Authority will be attending to provide an update to the timeline for the completion of the current construction project. The SCA has provided this letter regarding the estimated milestones for project completion. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to here more information from the SCA and to ask question about the project.
