History

Public School 39, also known as the Henry Bristow School, has been a neighborhood institution in the southern section of Park Slope for almost one hundred and forty years. Prominently situated at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Eighth Street, it is a handsome and distinctive brick school building which combines features of the Italianate and French Second Empire styles. Opened in 1877, the school is a symbolic link to the early history of education in Brooklyn. Learn more HERE.
