About PS 39

PS 39 is a public Kindergarten to 5th grade school in Brooklyn that focuses on play-based learning in creating creative, intelligent and joyful students. We inspire to be a place of joy where everyone involved has a voice and values independence, creativity, inclusiveness and empathy.

History

Public School 39, also known as the Henry Bristow School, has been a neighborhood institution in the southern section of Park Slope for almost one hundred and forty years. Prominently situated at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Eighth Street, it is a handsome and distinctive brick school building which combines features of the Italianate and French Second Empire styles.
