Is my address located within the PS 39 zone?
Please visit Find a School on the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) website and enter your address to the school for which it is zoned.
How do I register my child at PS 39?
The first step is to contact PS 39 Parent Coordinator Amina Hamidi (parentcoordinator@ps39.org) and provide the following information:
1. One (1) proof of your child's age (Examples of acceptable forms or documents can be found on this Pre-Registration Checklist)
2. Two (2) proofs of your address
3. The language(s) you speak at home
4. The language(s) your child is able to speak, read, and/or write
5. Any special education services, accommodations, or support your child received at their last school
Can I visit PS 39 or take a tour?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate requests for personal tours for families that are interested learning about enrollment. PS 39 hosts group tours for prospective kindergarten families in December. If you are interested in PS39, peruse our About Us pages to learn more about PS 39. Families that register their child to attend PS 39 will have an opportunity to see the school before their child begins.
How does my child apply to Kindergarten?
Schools in NYC are zoned so first check the school zone map to see what school your family is zoned for. If PS 39 is your zoned school, please visit our admissions page. Out of zone families will need to visit the NYC Department of Education's Family Welcome Center to pursue enrollment.
How can I change my family's address?
Please submit two (2) proofs of your new address to PS 39 Secretary Nikki Kelly (nkelly@ps39.org). Examples of acceptable forms or documents can be found on this Pre-Registration Checklist.
Is my child eligible for a Student OMNY card or school bus?
Please visit the official NYCDOE Transportation Overview web page for general information about school transportation. You will also find specific guidelines that determine Transportation Eligibility. If you believe that your child is eligible for either a student OMNY card or a school bus assignment, please contact the Parent Coordinator, Amina Hamidi (parentcoordinator@ps39.org).
How do I withdraw my child from PS 39?
Please notify secretary Nikki Kelly (nkelly@ps39.org) in advance of your family's departure and complete this brief discharge form at your earliest convenience. You may also records that copies of the materials in your child's cumulative folder be sent to their new school by completing the record release.

When should I keep my sick child home from school?
- Children need to be fever-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school. We encourage all families to exercise common sense community care when deciding whether to send an ill or recovering child to school. If you decide to keep your child at home, please notify your child's teacher and Nikki Kelly via message through ParentSquare.
Who should I notify if my child needs to arrive late?

Who should I notify if my child needs to leave early?

How can I make changes to my child's Emergency Contact Form?

How do I authorize someone to pick up my child?
- Please notify your child's teacher and Parent Coordinator Amina Hamidi in writing through ParentSquare with as much notice as possible.
How can I update my child's dismissal instructions?

Who should I contact to discuss an incident that my child reports?

How can I look for an item my child forgot or lost?
- There is a lost & found bin located just inside the lower green door to the right of the main steps. Parents are invited to visit the lost & found during school hours whenever their child loses a hoodie, a water bottle, or anything else. Please check in with Safety Agent Mata upon arrival.
Grades:
Your student's teacher. Sending a message through ParentSquare would be the preferred method. Families can also view their child's NYC School Account (NYCSA) for information about your child's progress.
Homework:
Your student's teacher would be the person to answer specific questions about work sent home, and sending a message through ParentSquare would be the preferred method. Assistant Principal Grossane (cgrossane@ps39.org) would be able to answer broader questions related to school wide homework policy.
